Our Story

Rage & Mane was born out of rebellion-a deep desire for something better.

After years of working in high-pressure salon environments where individuality was stifled, judgement ran rampant, and stylists were treated more like machines than artists. founder Cierra knew there had to be another way. She envisioned a space where creativity could thrive, where people could show up as themselves, and hair wasn’t just about looks-it was about connection, growth, and empowerment. 

In January 2020, against all odds (and with more than a few people betting against her), Cierra opened the doors to her dream: a different kind of salon. 

Rage & Mane opened in a small space located on York Street in Newport, Ky with only two chairs. 

Just two months later, the world shut down. Like so many others, Rage & Mane was forced to close its doors due to the pandemic. 

Giving up wasn’t an option. 

By the end of May, the salon reopened-and with it came renewed purpose. Cierra began seeking like minded stylists who had also felt boxed in by traditional salon culture. One by one, they came together. Creating something different: a place where no one is judged, creativity is celebrated, and growth and integrity-both personal and professional-is at the center of everything. 

Today, Rage & Mane is more than a salon. It’s a safe space, a creative home, and a community built on real connection and bold transformation. It started as a dream but today we aim to create a movement-and we’re just getting started.
